I had the pleasure of attending a monthly appreciation luncheon for the African American Police Officer’s League (AAPOL). Thank you to the president, Brandon Love, for the excellent program that included honoring several officers of color who are making waves in HPD. Namely, Jazne Fields, the First African American Handler in the K-9 division and Rashelle Thomas, the first black Class Leader in the Police Academy.

Melanie Miles announces her plan to run for City Council At- Large Position #1 !

On January 21, 2023, Houston Planning Department rolled out a new proposed Conservation District Ordinance. On Feb. 9th it was presented to the HAHC committee and public comments were allowed.

Melanie Miles makes a point that further time for review is needed. That too many questions remain unanswered about the proposed ordinance. Regardless, the proposed Ordinance passed the HAHC and is now heading to City Council for a vote on Feb. 22, 2023.

Houston Creates a New Conservation District. Hearing tomorrow, Feb. 9, 2023!
The City of Houston planning department has a proposed Conservation District Ordinance that will be presented to the Conservation Committee tomorrow, February 9, 2023 at 2:30pm. The meeting will be held at 900 Bagby St.

On Feb. 22, 2023, at 9:00am, the proposed Conservation Ordinance will be presented to City Council for a final vote.
